This is the first time that I have looked at it. It looks like it might be OK but frankly, I agree that the instruction is entirely too short with no detailed examples. I would suggest that the Author should redo it and show a simple example of how to assemble a project.

I think it will be very useful in the future.

I opened OneNote for the first time, and it offered a link to come here to learn more. The problem is that this is a promo video, not a how-to video. I’ve never used OneNote before and I don’t see what it can really do for me that my Favorites, Word docs, My Documents folders, Calendar (with reminders) and Outlook are all doing for me already. I’d like some help with organization, but with all the other products I’m already using, I’m not sure I fully understand what OneNote will actually do for me, and this video didn’t clarify it. When I clicked the link it didn’t mention how long it was. So now I’ve learned that you can copy websites into it (what happens if the website shuts down, do you still have the copy?) Can you copy emails into it too? I have to say I was hoping for a better, clearer picture of what it can do for me. The video itself is nice and the music is cool, it just didn’t answer the questions that it leads you to believe it would answer.

I am finding this to be a very useful resource. I have books set up for my job, for school and for home plus notes that are miscellaneous. After I watched the video and learned what this resource can do, I found ways to do all of the above things that I have done. It is wonderful. I needed something on my laptop where I could take notes and manage everything from one place, this has superseded all that I anticipated and then some. I am very pleased with tis product.

Motivational video, but not at all helpful in explaining how it works.

Agree with Brian, I knew that much about the program before I wasted a minute of my life on the video.

Good product though, I like the way you can cut n paste clips from webpages (using a clip program), handy for example if you have seen a product online you might want to go back to.

Agreed…it looks all very good but a few actual clues as to how to use it would be useful

Some people indicated that it is not useful or confusing. It looks like many have not used Onenote to know what it is all about. spend some time with it and find out the unlimited possibilities.

Music was crap but it pretty much explains what it does. I’m starting an online MBA program this week and have been copy/pasting the lectures and notes onto sheets. This has allowed me to do highlighting of the text and scribbling notes off to the side without having to print anything out. Its kind of like printing everything out so you can make notes, highlights, and underlines but without the paper AND I get to copy paste those notes into my online discussions later.

Honestly, did you need to make the comment on the music? OneNote guys, nice little tune. Very appropriate for the purpose it was meant to serve. Keep up the work on the great product and keep making music!

My printer doesn’t wok unless I “Use OneNote for the first time.” I don’t mind having OneNote, nor do I mind not having it. I want my printer to work.. Have checked all computer functions, wiring, etc. This has been going on for days. Another feature, my printer que shows no documents in que. Help. Maybe you can refer me to someone else if you don’t know.

When you install Office, it changes your default printer to “Send to OneNote”. When the printer dialogue comes up select your printer from the list instead of having OneNote chosen.
You can also go into your control panel and under printers change your default printer back to your actual printer and not OneNote.

Hey it is only one minute, twenty seven seconds
it cant tell you much in that time. the only thing it can do in that time is to peak your curiosity.

After viewing the video it seems pretty self explanatory. Am gonna try it at least to see what it can do.

I would like to see more videos. Maybe examples of how aomeone has applied it to their schoolwork, business etc. But it looks like it could be very useful once you understand how it applies to our needs.

LOL!! Obviously, some of us definitely have a learning curve – ummm, just look at the message below and you all can see that I certainly do ;0) Actually, I went too quickly and missed the big, blank space where the comment was to be left and I think the video does the same thing for most — it just goes too quickly. Lucky for me I love exploration! This product has some really great applications across the board, use your imagination and go with it. My favorite: I don’t have to search for sticky notes or pieces of scrap paper with those notations scribbled on them anymore ~ would love to see my employer incorporate this into our software package!

Hey folks, its an ad-on! Its not going to do the reeence work for you but if you spens some time with the program and learn how to clip th main features of a web page into the notes you have here, you can use it anytime–you don’t have to be close to wi-fi like saving something on winlive. I use it for research and then refer to the notes while doing the document. Works for me.

    21. Sep, 2010

WOW you people! Can’t think your way out of paper bag types I guess. Where’s your curiosity? You haven’t noticed the you can send web pages to one note? You can type in info … you can password protect sections… you can put anything in your notebooks you want! Fantastic program! The video was a great one minute overview of Onenote. Want more info, then look it up.

Jeepers, Sunny! Some of us were blessed with different learning styles and do better with tactile/hands-on opportunities to learn new things. Sounds like you are a quick study, but please have mercy on those of us who are wired a little differently. I clinked on the link for “template samples” three times (to “look it up”) and got a blank page, so it isn’t all quite as easy as you make it sound (or, put differently, I’m not quite as dullwitted as you seem to think I am). :)

Agree that the short seemingly empty video stirs my curiousity and imagination. I work for corp america, always lot’s of work, lot’s of projects, lot’s of disciplines, platforms, etc. Let’s see if I can use this OneNote to my advantage, simplify, organize, … hmmm … we;ll see! I just got the Office 2010 push to my laptop an hour ago, so checking everything out, including this OneNote. I’ll try tro remember to update after 6-8 months of use! :->

Allows you to have multiple notebooks, multiple sections in each notebook and multiple pages in each section. You should be able to leverage it to keep notes as they are occuring to you or for meetings, etc! Good Tool!

Not terribly useful–there isn’t enough detail.

This is like a note book. Say you had to develop a presentation on global trade with Canada. Rather than downloading a whole bunch of articles on the subject, you can cut and paste into one note (and it saves the site you got the info from) from each article what you need. Then assemble it into a structure and then export it out to word or powerpoint with only minor modifications to the final product. It allows you to compact your research into one area. I used it for college papers alot. This is a great product once you get over the I dont know how to use it factor. Its not that hard. Just try looking up a subject you like and cut and paste into one note. Then you start to realize what its for!

You need to have someone speaking and walking you through the features and use different examples to show how it can link to other office products. I thought there would be several videos here.
