does anyone know how to desktop doc horizontally v. vertically?

My somehow went to horizontal split and I can’t seem to figure out how to revert back to a vertical split.

There is no way to capture scrolling pages/windows with the ON clipping tool.
This needs a professional instriment loke SnagIt.

Not solved :-(
Unfortunately, this was only a phantom solution.
Could not reassign CTRL+ALT+L, CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+L outside Word. That is the options for these programs are independent of each other. What a pity.

Solved!
Just found that changing the shortcuts within Word 2010 for Normal.dotm affects Onenote, too. Assigned the usual CTRL+ALT+letter combinations of US-International keyboard to the corresponding “common symbols” – this does the job.

OK, there is no way to customize keyboard shortcuts. But is there a way to disable some of the keyboard shortcuts? I am used to use the US-International keyboard layout and need certain ALT+CTRL+letter combinations to produce foreign characters.

OK, one thing no one has questioned so far – how do you DELETE a notebook in OneNote? There really wasn’t a way to do this in 2007 either (other than deleting the entire directory in Explorer) and it’s really annoying. Any help?

OneNote is great as it synchs to my mobile phone perfectly. One question, and it may because I have not used it the product extensively; Is there a fast way to sort the pages within a tab (as my phone does this automatically but my desktop PC leaves them in the order of entry)?

One that I can’t believe is missing, and would be a huge help, is “Go to Unfiled Notes” – i.e. the keyboard equivalent of clicking the Unfiled Notes icon at the bottom left.

Not only would that be really useful in normal operation, as I find it’s one of the most frequently performed pieces of navigation, it’s also be a godsend for any attempts at automating OneNote (e.g. with Autohotkey or similar facilities).

What’s the chance it could be included in ON2010 at this late stage (simply tying a certain key-combo to the already existing function that’s initiated by the GUI button)?

I have a Notebook that is made of Section Groups that contain Sections and each Section contains pages.

Is there a keyboard shortcut that will help me to navigate between the Section Groups?

Is there a keyboard shortcut to navigate sequentially between all of the Pages in my Notebook?

That is, to sequentially move through all Section Groups and Sections to display each Page in my whole Notebook.

How do I print the onenote file, including all the formatting I did using the tags? I tried printing it but all that came out were the texts. It didn’t include the highlights and the different colors I used and included in the tags.

OK, so I should have just tried setting Onenote to run as administrator before asking about it here. A quick fix that did the trick, for anyone else who has had the same problem.

I get an error message when I try to create an Outlook 2010 task in Onenote 2010. It says that Onenote cannot communicate with Outlook. After I try this once, it disables (ie, makes not clickable) the create Outlook task function in Onenote. Does this have something to do with permissions and windows account controls? Should I set Onenote to run as administrator?

Running on a Dell Inspiron 1501 with Win 7 Pro…

What happened to Alt+C to do a screen clipping into the current file? Windows Key +S creates a new file, which makes it horrible for copying multiple screen clippings into the same file. Using the mouse to click the Screen Clipping button in the Insert menu is not a suitable alternative for me and anyone else that drives with two hands.

I asked this question on the OneNote Facebook Page, and they directed me to the TechNet site, and no one replied to it. You need to make it easy for people to ask questions and make recommendations for improving the beta. Where is the primary place to ask questions and make recommendations?

Hello, wonderful resource. I suggest adding a Pop up when you start One note for the first time .. with the top 20 shortcuts.
Excellent job putting this list together. The catagories help me find what I need quickly. :)

By the way, how do I add a “Tab space” into a one note page ? or is it more proper to add indents ( shift-alt-Arrow key) now? Will that provide for more uniform Tab’s to line up.

I’m not interested in having a Table .. just to indent something. So pressing Tab messes things up.

I’ve searched everywhere in the forums (and on Technet) and found nothing discussing this issue.

* Also the indent only works for the ENTIRE line. Sometimes I need to seperate multiple things on one line? Any ideas to add a TAB space to a Onenote document? The only info I’ve found is at http://blogs.msdn.com/descapa/archive/2008/04/08/do-you-miss-tab-in-onenote.aspx

Hi Jonathan, keyboard shortcuts have to be carefully implemented so they don’t collide with existing shortucts in other parts of the program (and in other programs). For this reason, they’re generally not user-configurable. However, you can make their commands more accessible by customizing the Ribbon. If you haven’t done this before, you can get an idea about how to do this by looking at these Office 2007 Help articles:

Is there a way to customize keyboard shortcuts, or reassign existing shortcuts to a new set of key strokes? I find it increases my productivity if I can make common editing and formatting shortcuts the same across all the apps I use, MS Office or otherwise. I also like to assign the shortcuts I use the most to key combinations that are physically easier to press.

Actually after looking at the last comment, I thought to check the quick access toolbar. It was available under “center” in the all commands menu. Hopefully there will be a shortcut key in the final version, but it’s good to see the option is still there at least. I thought other people might want to know the workaround though.

Is there a way to center justify text? I see right and left in the shortcuts list, but the old key (ctrl+E) seems to have been reassigned to a different function. This is kindof an important feature for a product that’s supposed to allow full control over note formatting.

Can you make any of these shortcut keys a custom button in OneNote 2010? In particular, I think it would be useful to have a “lock all sections” (CTRL-ALT-L) button available to put on the ribbon or the quick access toolbar, but I haven’t figured out how to do this, if it is possible. Thx.

If you are using non-English keyboard layouts, some shortcuts don’t work, like “insert math equation”. The ability to insert math at all is, however, the sole reason I am going to upgrade from Office 2007 to 2010, thx for adding this to onenote!

Wow, a very comprehensive list, some very practical things on it I didn’t know before. For the final version of this Help article, consider giving a summary of the most important/practical shortcuts at the beginning, new users may be frightened by the sheer load of useful shortcuts.

Oh, and something else… maybe this is a bug in the Office Beta and not an error in this help document, but many of the common formatting shortcuts like Ctrl+B, Ctrl+I, Ctrl+U do not work for me. I hope they were not changed to something else? Or maybe they are missing? (Using Office 2010 Beta German 64Bit on Win7)
